Super Eagles star Oghenekaro Etebo has stated that the pre-World Cup friendlies are important because they are part of preparations for Russia 2018 tournament.

The attacking midfielder who contributed to the team’s success to Russia added a friendly match with a team like Argentina is very important and shouldn’t be seen as an ordinary friendly.

Nigeria sealed qualification for the World Cup in Russia and will be facing Argentina in a friendly on Tuesday by 5pm (NT).

”First of all I want to thank God for the qualification for the World Cup in Russia coming up next year,” Etebo told Super Eagles via Twitter.

”About today’s game, I know it is a very important game because every team have to start preparing for the World Cup.

”You are not going to go the World Cup and mess up yourself because Argentina is also a big team; they have top players.

”We shouldn’t look at it as if it’s just an ordinary friendly game. If you want to play well in the World Cup, preparations have to start from now.”
