“Marry A Kenyan And Get Visa On Arrival” — President Kenyatta Tells Africans

The president of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, announced on Tuesday that any African who travels to the country can get a visa upon arrival and can legally reside if he marries a Kenyan person, thus removing the travel restrictions imposed for certain countries.

“If you wish and find a willing partner, you can marry and settle in Kenya,” Kenyatta said in his speech at a Nairobi stadium, during the inauguration for his second term as president of Kenya.

The president has said that this withdrawal of visa restrictions in Kenya aims to foster relations between African countries. “This commitment we make again with no requirement for reciprocity,” he added.

Kenyatta has taken office on Tuesday of his second term as president of Kenya, after achieving victory in the repetition of the presidential election on October 26, an appointment with the ballot box that was boycotted by the opposition leader, Raila Odinga.

The president has been surrounded by several African leaders in his second inauguration, in addition to thousands of supporters who have attended the football stadium in which the event has been held in the Kenyan capital.

Odinga boycotted the repetition of the presidential elections and on Tuesday he announced that he intends to take office as president of the country in an assembly he plans to hold on December 12.

“On December 12, we will hold an assembly that will take my oath,” Odinga told his supporters gathered on a road in the Eastlands suburb of Nairobi, after the police sealed the place where he planned to hold an event on Tuesday.
