Juventus to make move for Emre Can

Juventus will look to make a move for Liverpool midfielder Emre Can in January, according to the Mirror , rather than face an ‘auction’ for the German’s services in the summer.

Can appears to be letting his contract run down at Anfield, and has already addressed the Juve link, claiming to be flattered that the Serie A champions have shown an interest.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is still determined to keep the German international at Anfield, last week declaring it was important that Can was persuaded to stay.

However, negotiations between Can’s representatives and the Merseysiders’ have been at a standstill for some time.

That has seen a number of clubs, including Can’s former side Bayern Munich and Spanish champions Real Madrid, mentioned as potential suitors.

But it is Juve who have held the longest interest in the versatile former Bayer Leverkusen star, and according to Corriere dello Sport they are keen to press ahead with a move next month.

The Bianconeri don’t want to be drawn into an auction for Can’s services and hope to persuade Liverpool by paying a ‘small sum’, rather than waiting for what has been deemed an ‘auction’ next summer.

However, that is unlikely to spark any interest at Anfield, unless it is in excess of £15-20million.

Even then it may not be enough to persuade Klopp, who wants to continue building and is determined not to let his star men leave.

“We want to keep him,” said the German last month.

“We have to be as attractive as possible as a club.”
