Cristiano Ronaldo expresses joy as he broke yet another Champions League record against Borussia Dortmund last night.
The Real Madrid star said he is happy his team finished the group stage with a victory
Real Madrid go into Monday’s last 16 draw unseeded, meaning they are set for a difficult tie.
But Ronaldo thinks that his side have enough quality to defend the trophy which they won last season.
The Portuguese star scored Real Madrid’s second goal as they won 3-2 with a stunning curling effort into the top corner.
His latest strike is his 114th in Europe’s most prestigious competition, which is 17 more than his rival Lionel Messi has accomplished.
However, the recent success comes after being the only player to have scored in all six of the first round group matches.
Goals against Tottenham, Dortmund and Apoel wrote his name into the record books, and he says he is delighted with his achievement.
“I’m very happy, we wanted to finish the group stage well with a victory,” Ronaldo said.
“I also scored; I helped the team to win with a beautiful goal. The record is also important, I’m really pleased.
“Hopefully we can win the Champions League again,” Ronaldo added.
“The important thing was to pass through the group stage.
“Our aim is to win the Champions League.”
