Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil will not be sold in January – Martin Keown
Martin Keown has said he thinks Wenger wants Ozil and Sanchez at the club and is not interested in getting any money in for them.
Martin Keown who is BT Sport pundit and ex-Gunners defender also said he hopes the duo knuckle down and help to get the club into the Champions League next season.
Recall that Ozil and Sanchez’s contracts are due to expire at the end of the season and it was widely reported that Wenger would be looking to cash in on them in January, rather than let them walk away for free.
But Keown has claimed that the pair will be staying at the Emirates Stadium to see out their contracts.
Keown said: “I believe that they believe in the football club.”
“They have to do well between now and the end of the season and then go with everyone’s blessing,” Keown told BT Sport.
“Wenger wants them at the club. He wants the best players, that’s all he’s ever interested in – he is not interested in getting any money in for them.
“I think they should stay at the club and give their best and lets hope they qualify for the Champions League.”
Arsenal beat BATE Borisov 6-0 in the Europa League last night to qualify for the knockout rounds.
And winning that competition may be their best bet of qualifying for the Champions League next year.
They currently sit fifth in the Premier League table, one point behind Liverpool.
