Barcelona star Lionel Messi reportedly thinks Real Madrid will miss out on Inter Milan star Mauro Icardi because of Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
Barcelona star Messi is close friends with Icardi with the duo both part of the Argentina setup.
The Inter Milan hitman is in demand after a stunning season so far, where he has struck 16 goals from 17 games across all competitions.
Real are being heavily linked with a move for the former Sampdoria striker amid concerns over Karim Benzema, who has toiled in front of goal.
But Spanish website Diario Gol claims Messi thinks Icardi will NOT be moving to La Liga.
The Barcelona man supposedly thinks a transfer would see a power struggle at the Bernabeu unfold.
Ronaldo is known to rule the roost in the capital, despite his powers waning this season.
And Diario Gol say Messi reckons the 32-year-old would not be happy should Icardi move to Real next month.
It is said the Portugal international is already unhappy with life at the club.
Ronaldo feels he has few friends in the dressing room with Pepe, James Rodriguez, Alvaro Morata and Fabio Coentrao all being shown the door in the summer.
And Messi thinks Madrid will not dare anger the forward more by bringing in another huge ego.
Meanwhile, Icardi’s wife and agent has refused to rule out the striker jumping ship for a new challenge elsewhere.
“The heart of Mauro and our children is Nerazzurro,” Wanda Nara said on television program Verissimo.
“We hope to always be here, it depends on the club.
“I do not know anything, I do not say yes or no.
“Mauro would stay at Inter all his life, but it depends on other things.”
