The range of the Volkswagen Arteon, which currently culminates in our market with a 2.0 TSI 4Motion of 280 hp as the most powerful option, now has a variant with V6 engine.
As the publication Car Throttle recently learnt, in Wolfsburg, they are already working on an Arteon with a turbocharged VR6 engine .
During the presentation of the new Volkswagen Polo GTI, a representative of the German company assured the British publication that they are developing a variant of the Arteon saloon with propeller 3.0-liter VR6 turbo and, in fact, there is already a prototype of the Arteon with this engine.
” I am completely convinced that this combination is really good, we have coupled it with the latest generation of Haldex all-wheel drive, and it can cause some oversteer, it’s a really agile and powerful car,” said Martin Hube, the Volkswagen representative. that confirmed the news.
A VR6 for Europe?
Apparently, this block of six cylinders turbocharged for a future and hypothetical Arteon R would be coupled to a double-clutch DSG automatic transmission and a Haldex all-wheel drive system, and would have a maximum power of 410 hp.
Although in Spain models with this type of VR6 engine (and even less turbo) are no longer offered, in other markets such as the United States, VR6 blocks are available. In the Passat, for example, it offers a 3.6-liter VR6 FSI of 284 hp, whose power is far from this future engine VR6 turbo.
On this side of the pond, however, where the brand does not even offer options of six cylinders except the V6 TDI in models like the Touareg or the Amarok , it is very likely that we will never see this variant VR6 of the Arteon in which Volkswagen already works.
