Officials believed to be from EFCC arrested the businessman at his residence in Enugu around 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

The reason for his arrest has not been revealed, but socialite,  Adeyanju Deji who has been following the development says top financial institution, GT Bank is owing Mr Chukwuma about N6 billion.

Adeyanju Deji, via Twitter said the sum of N700 million was wrongfully deducted from the businessman’s account and after the matter was settled in a court, GT Bank is still unsatisfied with the court’s verdict.

Deji said: “Innoson Motors took a loan with GT Bank. They over deducted by over 700 million. He took them to court. Court ordered them to pay N2.8 billion based on accumulated interest. They went to appeal and lost on appeal. They are at the Supreme Court. The accumulated fee as at today stands at over N6 billion.”

He added that the bank has been bribing officials to evade paying.

Deji added: “There is another judgement he got against Nigeria customs for selling his goods illegally. GT Bank was also supposed to pay. They have appealed. Instead of obeying the court’s, GT Bank resorted to intimidation & frustrating Innoson.

“GT Bank mobilized dozens of policemen to pick him up but he resisted arrest so far with the help of locals in his home in Enugu. Innoson Motors is doing a lot for Nigeria but we are in a country where if the cabals of the day don’t like your face, you must go down. Oh Nigeria, shame of a nation.”
