50 years after the government promised to construct a bridge in Ibi town, governor Tambuwal still ferried his official car across the river

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on Wednesday transported his official SUV and his escort by boat to Ibi town.

With these photos that have gone viral on social media, it can be suggested that the said town lacks basic amenities such as electricity and roads.

The reason the governor visited the Ibi local government area in Taraba state was to lead a delegation to pay condolence visit to the former Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon Isiaka Bawa, who lost his mother, Hajiya Hadiza, few days back.

To make the visit to the detached town possible, Mr governor had to ferry his vehicle across the River Benue into Ibi town on two rickety boats.

Sources say the journey across the river lasted for 30 minutes.

The people in the area say a promise to construct a bridge across the river into the said town has not materialised after 50 years.
