A coffee brand called “Death Wish” is withdrawn from the market because it can literally kill
A coffee company called Death Wish has had to remove a complete batch of its products because it is toxic and harmful to health.
The brand, whose advertising campaign is based on how much of their coffee can kill you, seems to be doing honors to his name.
The company Death Wish Coffee, founded in 2008 in New York, claims to sell the “strongest coffee in the world”. In fact, this coffee has more than double the caffeine included in the darkest coffee sold by Starbucks and more than five times the amount of McDonald’s coffee. According to Death Wish Coffee, you need 30 cups of its coffee to hurt you.
However, the US Food and Drug Administration has found another way in which this brand can do harm, at least its recent production batches, primarily affecting its line of canned cold coffee. The authorities, together with the company, found that the current production process for the coffee may allow the appearance of the bolutinic toxin, which can produce botulism. Fortunately, no body affected by this coffee have been reported.
Botulism is a disease that causes dizziness, weakness, blurred vision, muscle pain and more symptoms. In addition, it can be fatal between 5 and 10% of the cases. It is unknown if the brand will want to change its name after this or continue with its current name that coffee lover will not want to associate with.
