In recent times, not much has been heard from Nigerian music star Paul Play Dairo. The talented singer took a break from the music industry after a brief illness.
In a recent interview with Punch, Dairo disclosed that his late father’s good music is beginning to taunt him as his friends want him to bring back those good memories.
The Angel of My Life crooner further disclosed that late IK Dairo’s friends would not let him be as songs being produced now does not favour the poor.
He said: “My father’s fans don’t want to leave me. Each time I run into them, there is so much pressure on me to keep his dream alive. Also, the old ones complain that they don’t have music for their generation anymore. The songs we have now are for young people. When I go to wedding ceremonies, I see old people being left out of the fun. I want to put out music for people in their sixties to enjoy. Right now, there is a big vacuum in Yoruba highlife music and the space has to be filled again. I feel this is an opportunity for me to take up the challenge and entertain my fans who like the genre. I will release an album that is a combination of highlife and gospel music, which people knew my father for. Then, I will release RnB and urban music albums, which people know me for. ”
