Facebook has announced that it will give one million dollars to five people who manage groups on the platform.
The Facebook Community Leadership Program will give five “community leaders” (group social network administrators) $ 1 million. The announcement was made this Friday in London at the Communities Summit Europe.
To be held in London today, it brings together over 300 community leaders from 80 countries.
The goal is to enable group managers to create and maintain online and offline activities related to the page or group they manage.
“We are saying that behind these communities there is a person, a single leader who used his time to create something,” said Ime Archibong, vice president of Facebook partnerships.
The social network executive also commented that “there are more than a billion people using the groups and tens of millions of users who have become leaders of the communities they have created, ” Ime said.
