Volkswagen’s future electric and autonomous saloon is called ID VIZZION and will be in Geneva
At the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, the German giant Volkswagen will increase the ID prototype family with its latest creation, the so-called Volkswagen ID VIZZION. Like the rest of the ID models, it is a concept that advances a future production model.
For the Wolfsburg company the future of its cars is electric and autonomous, and that is why the VIZZION ID is both. At the moment it is a mystery when the technology of driving completely autonomous will be on the street, but in terms of electric, Volkswagen it is already quite clear, 20 fully electric models are promised for 2025.
Volkswagen says that this prototype is a glimpse of what their future models can bring in terms of elegance and emotion in the design, although the most important is perhaps the interior concept and, of course, the fact that it uses electric motors to propel itself and, in addition, it is capable of driving automatically, without the intervention of the “driver”.
100% electric and 100% autonomous
This fourth member of the family of ID prototypes is presented in the form of premium saloon , 5.11 meters long, and sports a futuristic interior.
According to the brand, a “virtual host” system facilitates communication between the car and the occupants, either through voice commands or gesture control. In addition, the system recognizes the preferences of each occupant and can adapt the digital content or other systems of the vehicle individually.
The electric propulsion system of the ID VIZZION, all-wheel drive, combines two electric motors and offers a power of 225 kW , equivalent to 302 HP . Its lithium-ion battery of 111 kWh capacity allows a range of up to 665 kilometers , taking into account the load that the energy regeneration system in braking is able to return to the battery.
Finally, Volkswagen plans the launch of the electric compact ID for 2020 , followed by an electric SUV (the ID CROZZ ) and the spacious ID BUZZ . Now we have to wait for the Swiss show to know more details of this particular prototype as well as the brand’s own plans.
