How things have changed. Angry Birds was born in 2009 in the environment of iOS and soon became a worldwide phenomenon, reaching Android and became a free game with advertisements. Years later, Angry Birds Champions becomes a spin-off that is more like an e-sport than a more conventional title.
The reason is none other than the spirit of the new Champions. Angry Birds Champions offers us the possibility of competing against other users in tournaments, or in battles one on one, and we can win real money.
For now, the game is only on iOS and only within the WorldWinner app. The app is not available in the iOS store as such but can be accessed through the WorldWinner app itself.
Users are expected to be 18 years and above.
WorldWinner also licenses other popular games like Tetris, Scrabble, Wheel of Fortune, Trivial Pursuit, and more.
As for the money you can win, WorldWinner SVP, Jeremy Shea told Engadget that each competition is usually worth a few dollars and costs less than a dollar to play.
Viewing the game as a gambling game, it is unknown if it will end up leaving some countries like United States. But given that online gambling games are already proliferating all over the world, it is logical to think that Champions will become an international title at some point in its existence.
Although Shea iterated that WorldWinner doesn’t view its games as gambling because the games in the app are skill-based competitions just like Angry Bird.
