They will give prizes to students who put their cell phones aside during classes

University students now spend more class time than ever playing with their smartphones -a trend lecturers in the United Kingdom want to put an end to. They believe that the solution is to reward students who leave their phones aside during class time.

To carry out this task, they will launch an app called Hold; which has been developed by students of the Copenhagen Business School. The three young students realized this problem and decided to get down to work.

The app will reward students who do not use their cell phones while in class.

Hold is already popular in Scandinavia, and now it’s going to the United Kingdom. According to the developers, the app will be used by only university students from 170 universities. It is free and can be used in both iOS and Android.

But how will it work?

It is not very complex. You will accumulate 10 points for every 20 minutes of inactivity of your cell phone between 7 am and 11 pm; everyday. These points can be exchanged for goods and services within the same app. There are participating coffee brands, movie theaters and even Amazon.

For example: if you want two cups coffee without cost, you will have to accumulate 300 points; approximately 10 hours without using your cell phone. And so, each product or service will have a specific “cost”.

The best thing is that among these awards are books or stationery to help with the studies.
