Former U.N. Secretary-General, Kofi Annan’s body has landed at Kotoka International Airport in Ghana’s capital.
Annan’s wife Nane Maria Annan, his children and senior officials from the World body accompanied the casket, which was draped in the blue UN flag, as it arrived from Geneva.
To signify Annan’s return home, the U.N. flag covering the coffin was replaced by a Ghanaian flag.
Annan’s body will lie at the Accra International Conference Center, for people to pay their final respects before state funeral scheduled to take place on Thursday.
The first UN leader from sub-Saharan Africa and Nobel Peace Laureate, died on August 18 after a short illness at the age of 80.
