APC had gathered together on Tuesday, September 18, for the campaign of Osun State governorship candidate Mr. Gboyega Oyetola , when Governor Akin Ambode, his family and entourage, stormed Osogbo to beg Tinubu on bended knees.
The embattled Lagos Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, went to Osogbo, the Osun State capital with his wife, First Lady Bolanle Patience Ambode and an entourage; as he reached out to APC godfather Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu aka The Jagaban .
Tinubu has supposedly fallen out with Ambode who recently acquired the N22.5million APC governorship nomination form, and the Lagos State governor has been pleading ever since.
According to one APC chieftain,
“Ambode arrived Osogbo with his wife, full convoy and entourage which is unusual because he’s never one to attend political rallies in the past. He doesn’t really care about rallies and has conveniently missed the APC’s many rallies.”
Pulse reported that although Ambode stayed on the sidelines in Osun, he continued pleading with Tinubu and asked other APC chieftains, including President Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, to plead on his behalf.
Pulse also alleged that when Tinubu and Ambode met at Jim Ovia’s book launch on Monday, 17th of September, Mrs. Ambode literally rolled on the floor to beg Tinubu on her husband’s behalf.
“I really don’t know whether she was trying to beg Tinubu to provide a soft landing for her husband in the event that he doesn’t get a second term ticket or beg Tinubu to back her husband instead of Sanwoolu. But like you know, The Jagaban has always told Ambode that the situation is now beyond him, that he can no longer help him at this point”, a Chieftain said.
Preferred APC governorship candidate for Lagos, Jide Sanwoolu, also arrived Osogbo with his entourage to counter Ambode’s plot.
The Mandate Movement, the political structure which answers to Tinubu and which is headed by Osun Governor Rauf Aregbesola, has openly declared its support for Sanwoolu, along with all 57 local council chairmen in Lagos.
“Ambode has no structure behind him at the moment and you can’t win a primary election in a state like Lagos without a political structure behind you. The best thing for Ambode to do now is go home or go down fighting like a man. If I were in his shoes, I’d choose the former”, said Segun Adeyemi, a political pundit.
Ambode, also caused comical drama at the book launch of Zenith bank founder, Mr. Jim Ovia on Monday, September 17, at the Eko Hotel Convention Center in Lagos.
Tinubu, one of the high profile guests at the event had spoken and Ambode was called to give a speech when he said he was unworthy to speak just after “The Jagaban” had spoken.
After the event, dignitaries were invited to the podium for a round of photos, when Ambode, who was standing between Dr. Christopher Kolade and Mr. Ovia, dashed to Tinubu’s corner as the audience clapped and cheered.
