Nigeria’s startup, Thrive Agric has joined tech accelerator program, 500 Startups for a four months tech accelerator program.
Thrive Agric joins 21 other startups announced to participate in the four months program which started last week.
Thrive Agric was founded in 2016 by Uka Eje as a crowd funding platform that provides farmers the finances to grow their business. Apart from financing small farmers, Thrive Agric also gives farmers needed support to succeed in farming in Nigeria and to distribute their produce to a larger market.
With Thrive Agric, ordinary Nigerians can now invest in the country’s agricultural sector.
In a recent interview with TechMoran, Eje said its members have grown ten times more than its first year in business. TechMoran also reports that farmers are making more yields which translate to more money and the investors who fund these farmers are making exciting returns also.
Thrive Agric has worked with over 4,000 farmers across Nigeria, both directly and indirectly.
In 2017 Thrive Agric got funded by Nigerian VC firm, Ventures Platform. In 2018, the startup joined the Google Launchpad Africa Accelerator Program.
