WhatsApp now has more options to protect your privacy. The messaging app now allows you block your chats with the biometric security system of your choice (and that of your phone), either using touch ID or face ID. The function is already available on iPhone.
The idea of adding a second protection measure to WhatsApp chats is especially useful for those who do not mind lending their phone to anyone for any reason, such as making a call, taking a photo or watching a YouTube video but would not want them they to snoop through messages – or open one by accident.
To turn it on, head on over to the Settings menu of the app, then “Account” section and then to “Privacy” section. Once there, simply activate the option “Screen lock”.
Of course, it is also advisable to deactivate preview of messages from the screen notification since from there others can read and even respond to new messages.
According to The Next Web, the feature for now is only available on iPhone, but will hit Android soon.
